Halloween Weekend

November 3, 2009 by Devon

Puppy CostumeI had a lot of fun this wekeend and I am finally coming down off of my sugar high. The weekend got started on Friday when we went to Aunt Stacey’s and Uncle Rob’s Pumpkin Carving Party. I wore the puppy costume the Wilds’ let me borrow. Bailee and Raven gave the approval and said we could go as Three Musketeers. I think it was just a ploy so they didn’t have to get dressed up.

Then on Saturday Dad and I went to the District 6 XC Championship. Aunt Rebecca’s team won big as the perfect scored the field. Way to go Aunt Rebecca! Good Luck at States. As for me, I was content riding in my stroller, drinking juice, and eating Teddy Grahams. Uncle Artie and Paavo were there too and I shared some of my Teddy Grahams with Paavo.

After the meet, we went home and picked Mom up and went to lunch. Following lunch, we had to get candy for the neighborhood kids trick or treating in a few hours. The best part was that I got to go trick or treating this year too. Last year, I just wore that chick costume and didn’t get to reap any rewards. Not this year. I had my pillowcase in hand, ready to reel in my haul.

The day was not done after walking the streets for candy, next was a party at Uncle Luke’s and Aunt Georganne’s place. Their  niece and nephew were there so I was not the only kid in attendance. I had fun, but was upset when I was not allowed to go into the pool. They said next time  I could go swimming. Instead I ate lots of chocolate covered pretzels and pumpkin seeds.

On Sunday the fun continued, I missed the morning run with Bailee, Raven, and Daddy which stinks, but the rest of the day made up for that. Dad and I went to the Big Ten XC Championships. The Penn State women won the title! I had my Penn State sweatshirt on and was cheering loudly.  It was their first Big Ten XC title. Congrats to them. I also gave Coach Groves a cheerio. After the meet, Dad had to do some work in the yard, but said he would take Bailee, Raven, and I on a hike in the mountains when he was done. He finished around 4 and we were in the car by 4:10. We didn’t take a super long hike because it was getting pretty dark. But we still got to go and that is all that matters. By Sunday night, we were all pretty tired even with our extra hour of sleep.

I wonder if we will be able to top that this weekend with all of the festivities planned?

New Things

October 29, 2009 by Devon

Sorry for the long lapse in between posts. But I have two new things to report. First, I am going to be a big sister! How cool is that? The baby’s Roman name is Octavia. If you remember, mine was Maximus. Bailee and Raven are putting me through big sister training, so I will be ready when Octavia arrives.

The other new thing is that I am now sleeping in a twin bed. I started the night before my 23-month birthday. So far so good. Hopefully Bailee and Raven join me one of these nights, since I have a lot more room. I will have to leave the door open a crack so they can get into the room though.

More videos…

August 10, 2009 by Devon

Mom really loves the camera we got her for Mother’s Day. I think she carries that with her more than Dad had his cell phone. Here are a few more videos from this summer.

We were having a barbecue with some friends and Mom and Dad thought it would be a good idea to bring out the strereo to add some music to the festivities. One of the songs Dad and I listen to on the way to daycare started to play, so I started to dance.

At another barbecue this summer, although not a warm one since we were all wearing sweatshirts, Dad was giving Bailee and Raven pieces of cheese. I decided I wanted in on the action. So the Three Musketeers made their bid for more cheese.

The last video I will share today is from our camping trip. We were privileged to see two elk one day while we were driving. Mom was able to capture it on camera. Bailee and Raven said they were going to track it down to provide a fresh dinner for all of us.

Camping trip

Here are a few photos from the camping trip we took a few weeks ago in Medix Run, PA. It was a lot of fun. I will add some videos later as soon as Mom posts them. Not sure why she is being a Facebook elitist. Hehe.

A lucky find for me and the rest of the Core Pack

One day when Dad and I were on our way home from daycare we spotted a tricyclye and bike trailer someone was giving away for free. So Dad loaded both of them into the car because he thought we would be able to fix them for me to use.

So away we went. That weekend Dad bought some spray paint from Home Depot to update the tricylce. He painted it black and chrome, then put a reflective coat on it. Mom asked him why, to which he replied in case she’s riding at night. Mom just shook her head.

Dad could handle the tricylce, but he needed someone with some more skills to work on the bike trailer. So in steps my Grammy Aunt Jo to save the day. She is currently making some alterations and making it a little safer for me. But before Grandma and Grandpa dropped it off to her, we were able to take a few rides to the park and through the farm. The longest ride we did was to the ponds where Bailee and Raven go swimming.

Ponytail Redux

August 6, 2009 by Devon

Mommy was feeling better today, so she did my hair this morning. She put two little ponytails on each side, and for the first time in a long time, I didn’t undo it. YAY!

Hmm…Not so sure about this

August 4, 2009 by Devon

Mom was not feeling well this morning, so Dad had to get me ready for daycare. I know this is not too big of a deal, but it meant Dad had to do my hair. A first he combed it a little and I looked even wilder than when I was awakened. He scratched the idea of putting a barrette in my hair since the ones Mommy puts in I take out as soon as we get in the car. Dad has a nice collection going right now. His only option was the ponytail. The first partially successful attempt (picture below) started to unravel by the time we arrived at daycare, so he tried again. The new one is still in as of now, but I am not sure if it will make another hour though. ;)

My Cousin Ean’s Here!!!!

June 24, 2009 by Devon

I finally have a two-legged cousin. Ean Matthew Jackson (EMJ, just like Aunt Erica!) was born on Saturday 6/20 EARLY in the morning. He took his sweet time getting here, but, just like me, even the mention of “inducing labor” got him moving.
I’ve got a lot of work to do to prepare to see my new cousin. There’s a ton of stuff I need to teach him….mostly naughty stuff…hehehe.   Plus, I will have to invent a new font: The Mommy-and-Aunt-Erica-can’t-read font.  So I can send secret messages to Ean without us getting in trouble with our Mommies.

Well, I’m off to get into something (one of my favorite activities lately)….I will post some pictures of Ean as soon as we get them.  Oh, and by the way, my babysitter, Ms. Heather, just found out she’s having another baby – sheesh!  Babies are all over the place!

Neighborhood Dog Walking Service

May 30, 2009 by Devon

Bailee and Raven are the coolest dogs in the neighborhood and all the kids love to play with them. So a few of them came up with a great idea, a dog walking service! They wrote a contract which Mommy signed to make it official. We still need to have Uncle Pete look it over to make sure it is legit, but it looks good to me. It’s written in pencil and has lots of pictures so that was a plus in my book.

Originally it was only going to be for the weekends, because the kids have school, but now it is everyday provided we get home while it is still light. The kids in the neighborhood are a lot of fun and I hang out with them, too. They said in a few years they will be old enough to babysit me. How cool is that? Bailee and Raven really enjoy the dog walking. Any time they have a chance to get outside, they take it. Plus it has freed up a little time for Mom and Dad. Dad has used the extra time to work on the next house project, Building a Zip Line.
